Nehemiah 5:1-19 details an internal crisis in Jerusalem where wealthy nobles exploited poor Jews facing famine and heavy taxes by charging high interest and taking their land or children as slaves. Nehemiah rebuked the rich leaders, made them restore what they took, and modeled selfless leadership as governor.
