Divided From the Womb

Genesis 25:19–34 details the birth and early conflicts of Isaac and Rebekah's twin sons, Esau and Jacob, foreshadowing a deep-seated rivalry and the passing of God's covenantal promise. Rebekah, experiencing a difficult pregnancy with the babies "jostling each other within her," inquired of the Lord, who revealed that two nations were in her womb, one to be stronger than the other, and that the older (Esau) would serve the younger (Jacob).
