God Tests Abraham's Faith, Part 2

As Abraham was about to carry out the sacrifice, an angel of the Lord called out to him, stopping his hand and declaring that God now knew Abraham feared Him because he had not withheld his only son. Looking up, Abraham saw a ram caught in a thicket and offered it as a burnt offering instead of Isaac, naming the place "Jehovah-jireh," which means "The Lord will provide". Following this ultimate display of obedience, the angel of the Lord reaffirmed God's covenant with an oath, promising to bless Abraham and multiply his descendants, and to bless all nations through his offspring, because he had obeyed God's voice.
